Fashion Icons for Men

No matter how we claim how “original” our fashion sense is or how we are so unique compared to others or how others “copy” our style and all those blabbing crap shiz, we can’t deny the fact that there are certain people who influence our belief in things. Even though we think we’re original, are we really? I can say I’m not, all because I’m influenced by my fashion icons to a certain extent. They inspire and motivate my looks and the manner I dress up. But of course, fashion is and never will be about imitating others, it’s getting inspiration from others.

So take a look who influence my sense of style!

JAMES DEAN

Define legacy in terms of fashion. He may long ago been the Brad Pitt of his generation but his style lingers ‘til today. I like how rebel-like his looks are. I got my boots-shirt-jacket ensemble from him so I credit him for bringing the rock star slash bad boy that I never was. He’s my patron saint!

JOHNNY DEPP

May he be in tux or his shirt, I’ve never seen anyone who mixes and matches pieces this well. I get my accessorizing style from him. Playful and colorful hues matched with ruggedness? No one does it better than Depp! I want his boho-tribal-urban-like accessories! That’s why I always watch his movies. I wanna see what he’s wearing. Never fails me! :)

ZAC EFRON

Zac! I don’t know if it’s his built which carries his clothes with certain coolness but his street wear look is what I’m diggin! Wearing a tank or a shirt with pants so simple hasn’t made this of an impact to me. Man he got style! He’s my guiding light for not dressing up too over the top.

There goes the three generations of my fashion inspiration! Now you know why I try dressing up everyday; just because these three do it so effortlessly that I wanna be just like them.

Who’s your fashion icon?

Photos are NOT MINE! They are from Google! :) I just made them mosaic-like.

Randz Will Go Places

First thing, this post is not fashion-related. But I figured it’s a bit blog-worthy ‘cause it speaks a part of my dream in life (as said in my banner) ha ha. Second, the post title is inspired by Tricia Gosingtian’s blog, Tricia Will Go Places, another ha ha.

My best friend and myself were talking about going to Italy after graduation and how we would try those authentic intoxicated brownies in Amsterdam. This, so far, is what I consider the impossibility of a possibility. But who knows? I can save for my own ticket right before graduating next year, right? :) So along with this, I’ve decided to post about places in the world where I would die just to put my freaking tongue in. Okay that’s a weird expression. So let me take you in places around the world, Jumper-Hayden Christensen style.

10. Atlantis Paradise Island, Saudi Arabia/Bahamas

Maybe it’s just the Miss Universe ploy but this place truly looks like paradise!!!

9. Maui, Hawaii

Nothing beats our own but Hawaii is still Hawaii. Think of the people in their bikinis. Rawr. That’s the one Bora can’t bring us!

8. Aurora Borealis, Oslo, Norway

I have this dream of kissing the love of my life under these lights. It’s as if our love will be immortalized by the stars and heavens above us! It feels so magical! OMG AND THE DRAMA OF IT! movie-like.

7.Cape Town, South Africa/Botswana

A true safari experience is one of those experiences I’d pay for! I plan to join the National Geographic team just to take pictures of baby tigers and chasing a gazelle!

6. The Pyramids of Giza, Egypt

Since elementary, I’ve been amazed by the pyramids. I just wanna go there to buy coffins, ancient ones.

5. Seoul, South Korea - Tiange, Thailand

I heard the clothes are cheap-o! This will be my Asian heaven then!

4. Carnival/Ipanema Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

OMG i just wanna see hot people and butts.

3. New York, USA

Who doesn’t want to be a part of it? The Upper East Side, baby! Just like Gossip Girl. Oh how I’d love to dress up and walk its streets and just have coffee! (although i really don’t drink one)

2. Paris, France

Most of my friends know I don’t eat BREAD! But I told myself I will eat my first one in France under the love of my life, the Eiffel!

1. Santorini, Greece

Mama mia! Oh the majesty of this place! Greece is my ultimate travel destination. The Parthenon, the ancients gods, people who are goddess-like, name it! I’d cry being able to spend a month in Santorini!

BONUS: NIGERIA

Reaching out to others is my way of appreciating the least of my neighbors. Whether it be charity or a way of giving back, I swear my whole life that one day I’ll go here and share whatever I have. Wish I could join UN, Red Cross or something.

Of course, the ultimate reason for all these is that I want a Lookbook-inspired picture in each spot haha. So shallow. The Philippines is one amazing country but not everything is found in here. We have the whole world out there, different and amazing. One day, I will go places. Like it or not, I will be there.

Photos, for now,are from The World We Live In and Flickr.com but the next ones will come from my cam. :)

Hell Week Survivor Look!

I am so so sorry for not posting any blog entry for the past week! Just so you know, it was our midterm week and I had to “study.” This was a terrible terrible week. 2 hours of sleep almost everyday and getting super low grades as a result? Not good! I don’t get why teachers make it hard for students when they really don’t have to. Hello, we’re humans too! Earth calling teachers! I have to make up for it for the last month of this school year!

Anyhoo, after the grueling week, treated myself with a hotel meeting for our org (might blog about it or not) and movie bonding with my co-hell week survivors. The shots were taken it Ronac Art Center where everything is so chic and artsy fartsy. Thanks Bryan Uy for the photos! :)

Don’t forget to hype this look in Lookbook! :)

Reversed Beret is Sort of My Thing Now

It’s nearing summer so I’m taking every opportunity to layer as much as possible. A lot of people ask if I don’t find it hot. Trust me, I don’t! I find the weather sheepishly cold, weird! So anyway, playing with Sir Agloro’s dog named Cat! :)

Also, reversed beret’s my style right now. I still don’t feel comfy with the new hair and all so please bear with me for a while! Layer people!! We have a few days left!

Also, don’t forget to hype this in Lookbook!

Thanks Arvi for the photos!

The Infamous SoFA Wall

The bloggers I’m following like Patricia Prieto’s and Kryz Uy’s has their own take of the SoFA wall. Now, I had the chance to take a picture with it on the same spot as theirs. Fulfillment! Yes! :)

So anyway, my theme for the day is smart casual! People find it hard to dress up with this theme with the risks of either being too casual or too formal. The trick is don’t ever use slacks, just denims or jeans to give it a casual feel. Go for buttoned tops for the smart/formal side. I just added the boots and blazer to make it edgier!

And hype this in Lookbook too!:)

    Randz on the Runway

It’s my first to actually do a fashion show and I had a blast, a sexy blast! :) Thank God my partner was Rach so we could do anything we want but still feel comfortable with each other. So the sinner-themed fashion show went extra sinful, nasty and sexy (as seen with the photos below). Photos were from the Stellar Photographer and Lance dela Cruz in Manor last Saturday.

    Spotted in Manor Basement

The good thing about Manila part scene is that people actually dress up. Our org party in Manor last night was no exception. Lots of people made dressing up as a career especially the ones in the fashion show. The crowd was wild and crazy. Too bad I had to leave early too.

Here are some blog and fashion-worthy shots. I could post more but it would overwhelm this post too much! Next time I’d limit my pictures to just 10 - 15 best shots! It’s just too hard to choose!

    Organizers Jake and Anj!

    VJ Anj’s shoes! Nice, eh?

    Models of the runway!

The best thing about parties aside from the clothes you wear is the company you keep. :)

    Panda in the City!

Actually it’s a dalmatian but i keep on saying panda! :|

Sorry for not being able to post that much for this week. It was my birthday week and a lot of tests and papers to do. :( Student life can be a bit saddening at times.

So away we go! Philippine temperature is rather odd these days. You feel it’s cold but then actually it’s not. o_O Another thing is that Ateneo is generally non-AC-ed but all my classrooms for this year are. It’s hot when I’m outside but freezing when inside the rooms. See, odd!

So to fight the trickery and since summer is coming, I want tank tops to be in! They’re just so breathable and refreshing. But of course, not in our dress code. So i’ll just keep layering like this one. Tank top inside and a cardigan or jacket outside. Trust me, not hot at all. Well, except for the Panda hat haha. Peace and Awesomeness, RANDZ.

Thanks Bryan Uy for the pictures!

Don’t forget to hype this in Lookbook! :)
